We are hiring a Billing Clerk [Full-Time, Permanent] based in Aylmer, Ontario, Canada. This opportunity is open to both internal and external candidates. Current EPCOR employees: please apply using your @epcor.com email address.

 

As a Billing Clerk, you will play a vital role in ensuring timely, accurate, and customer focused billing for EPCOR Natural Gas Limited Partnership (ENGLP). You will be responsible for preparing, printing, and distributing customer usage bills, applying payments, and completing each monthly billing cycle with precision and regulatory compliance.

 

This role is integral to supporting our customers and operational teams. You will collaborate closely with meter reading, customer service, collections, and regulatory colleagues to ensure seamless billing operations and a positive customer experience. The Billing Clerk reports to the Specialist, Regulatory Compliance, and operates within established guidelines and standards.

 

What you’d be responsible for

 

Reporting to the Specialist, Regulatory Compliance, and working collaboratively with peers across Southern Bruce & Aylmer branches, your responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

 

Billing & Data Management

  • Preparing handheld devices for meter readers and uploading meter data for billing.
  • Importing meter reads and validating data to ensure accuracy.
  • Calculating customer charges, generating bills, and preparing billing packages for mailing.
  • Preparing daily bank deposits for cash and cheque payments.
  • Processing various customer payment methods and applying them accurately.

 

Customer Support

  • Responding to customer billing inquiries via phone and email with professionalism and empathy.
  • Processing refunds, penalties, Non-Sufficient Fund (NSF) payments, and account adjustments as required.

 

Reporting & Compliance

  • Preparing monthly reports including charge registers, consumption history, Ontario Energy Board (OEB) submissions, and monthend reports.
  • Supporting regulatory requirements and maintaining accurate billing record

 

Operational Support

  • Purchasing postage and billing stationery.
  • Operating the bill sorter machine, postage meter, and meter reading handheld devices/software.
  • Providing backup support to other departments to meet shared objectives.
  • Demonstrating a highperformance, safe, accountable, and customerfocused working style consistent with EPCOR values.

 

 

 

What’s required to be successful

Education & Experience:

  • High School (Grade 12) diploma or GED equivalent.
    • A 2-year post-secondary diploma in business administration or related field is preferred.
  • 7 + years of administrative experience, ideally in natural gas or utility sectors.
    • Individuals with less than the required experience may be considered in a developmental capacity based on demonstrated ability to meet the core responsibilities of the role.

Technical Competencies:

  • Working knowledge of utility billing processes, collection policies, and utility software systems.
  • Proven knowledge of operating bill sorter machine, postage meter, and meter reading handheld devices and software.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and standard office systems.
  • Expert knowledge of Utility Management Software (UMS) Billing Software is preferred.

Jurisdiction: Out of Scope Hourly (OSH)

Class: 3967

Wage: Starting at $32.13 per hour (Final Wage and Step will be determined at the time of selection and is based on a combination of factors as outlined in the wage grid.)

Hours of Work: 80 hours bi-weekly
